Her parents were interior designers Sharon Anna Kathryn Shana Gunn & Clemens Gunn Jr. Santa Fe Preparatory School is where she received her diploma in the year 1986. She majored and received her degree from Northwestern University with a theatre degree. Gunn attended an academy called the British American Drama Academy for one semester during the fall of 1988. Pamela Adlon was her housemate when Gunn relocated into Laurel Canyon Los Angeles. Gunn is well known for her character Skyler White on the AMC Drama Breaking. The role she played earned her an award called the Primetime Emmy Award, Outstanding Supporting Performance in the field of Series Drama in 2013. In August 2013 she wrote an article of an opinion piece in The New York Times that focused on the negative reaction of viewers of her portrayal.
